Wayne Grady lets rip at ‘selfish’ Greg Norman in furious rant

Major winner Wayne Grady has laid into Greg Norman on social media, calling the two-time Open champion an “absolute disgrace” for “trying to take down the PGA Tour”.

In an epic rant posted on Facebook, Grady, whose major victory came at the 1990 PGA Championship, ripped into Norman for his continued backing of the LIV Golf Invitational Series, the proposed breakaway league which has long been met with heavy backlash and controversy because of its links to Saudi Arabia.

“From someone who has known Greg for 50 years, Greg is only about Greg,” Grady wrote. “He has been trying to take down the PGA Tour for 30 years.

“The admiration I had for what he has achieved and what he did for Australian golf is gone.”

Norman recently caused outrage following an interview with Sky Sports, where the Australian responded to the state-approved murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi and the execution of 81 men by claiming “we’ve all made mistakes”.

Much of the golfing world has spoken out against Norman’s comments as well as the league’s scheduled formation, but now Grady, once an ally of the former World No 1, has taken criticism to the extreme with the furious Facebook outburst.

“For him to try and trivialise what the greats before him did to grow and create what the PGA Tour is today is an absolute disgrace,” he added. “You should hang your head in shame, Shark.”

Grady then pointed to the recent passing of another Australian golfing great to press home his displeasure: “I went to the memorial service of Jack Newton yesterday and was surrounded by true professional golfers who believe in loyalty and history. GFY Shark.”

You can look up what GFY means in your own time.
