The Algarve’s tourism board (RTA) is preparing to launch a “good practices” manual called ‘Algarve Clean & Safe’. It will include guidelines for tourism companies to improve their health and safety measures and keep their businesses “Covid-free”.
The manual will be aimed at hotels, restaurants, marinas, beach concessions, golf courses, water parks, tourism entertainment companies, campsites and motorhome parks, car rental companies, travel agencies, among others.
Says RTA, the goal is to “present measures that strengthen the destination’s safety and the confidence of tourists, workers and residents”.
The recommendations that will be included in the manual are described as “complementary” to the ‘Clean & Safe’ seal that has been created by national tourism authority Turismo de Portugal and aims to recognise companies in the tourism sector that follow the national health board’s recommendations to avoid the contamination of their facilities.
RTA is also organising “information sessions” online about the €60 million credit line created to support micro companies in the tourism sector. The first was held on Tuesday (April 28) in partnership with Monchique Council, while the next ones are aimed at businesspeople in Aljezur (Thursday, April 30 at 10am), Lagoa (Monday, May 4 at 10am), Faro (Tuesday, May 5 at 10.30am) and Albufeira (date to be announced).
