Simon Buckle, who resigned as head pro at Brook Hollow Golf Club after 10 years at the club, was named the Northern Texas PGA Golf Professional of the Year, the section announced Tuesday. The award recognizes qualities of leadership, strong moral character and a substantial record of service to the NTPGA and the game of golf. It is considered the highest annual honor given to a NTPGA member.
Buckle, who will begin his job as director of golf at Silverleaf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., in December, is also a founding member of the Birdies for Kids fundraiser. Combined, the Ewing Charity Classic, of which he is the current chairman, and Birdies for Kids have raised $7.03 million for the Northern Texas PGA Foundation, the NTPGA said.
