Quintuple bogey drama as PGA Tour stars make a mess of a par-3

This week in ‘PGA Tour stars are just like us’: Kevin Kisner and Scott Brown make an absolute mess of a par-3 at the Zurich Classic

Golf is hard. There is no denying that. Even the best players in the world struggle just like us sometimes. During the closing round at the Zurich Classic pairs event, Kevin Kisner and Scott Brown proved that was the case and then some, capitulating on the par-3 9th to make a quintuple bogey in alternate shot.

So much for foursomes offering the partner ‘bail out’ luxury…

Brown kicked-off the disaster, over drawing his tee shot into the 183-yarder to find water short left. After dropping about 30 yards out, Kisner under-hit his pitch shot and also found the drink.

But the horror show wasn’t finished there.

Content on taking on the pin on once more, Brown duffed his chip from the exact same position, requiring Kisner to repeat the process for a third time as he finally pitched onto the green. Brown then sunk the 13-footer for, that’s right, a quintuple-bogey eight.

The pair ended up shooting 2-over for the round, finishing a solo 35th for the tournament and 16 shots back from eventual winners Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schaeffule.
