Harlow woman wins Rose Ladies Series gold tournament

A Harlow woman, who practised her golfing at home during lockdown, has won a highly anticipated tournament.

The 2021 Rose Ladies Series, supported by leading golf retailer, American Golf, was won by Gabriella Cowley on April 29.

The 25-year-old, a member of the Hanbury Manor Golf Club, took home a first prize sum of £10k, after completing 18 holes in 71 strokes at West Lancashire Golf Club.

Gabriella has now earned her place within the final, which will take place on September 25 carrying a £20k prize pot.

Gabriella, who turned pro in 2014 after representing Great Britain and Ireland in the Curtis Cup, said: “I’m over the moon to win the event – it’s been a fantastic day being out on the course able to compete again. I spent lockdown practicing at home with my TrackMan to ensure that I maintained my skills, but obviously nothing compares to being outside, working towards a title again.

“I took up golf at 13 years old when my dad started to take me down to the range and never looked back. I hope the Rose Ladies Series and other similar events encourage more females to get into golf as the enjoyment and satisfaction that comes from playing – and winning! – is amazing.”

Gary Favell, CEO, American Golf said: “We are delighted that Gabriella has become the 2021 Rose Ladies Series first event winner, kicking off the campaign with gusto! As the title sponsor for the second year running, American Golf is proud to back this fantastic tournament which aligns perfectly with our own values.

“Promoting gender inclusivity within the sport and providing additional opportunities for female golfers to showcase their talent is so important in breaking down player barriers.”
