Golfers at Bramall Park Golf Club celebrate their success

Members of Bramall Park Golf Club did not let Covid-19 prevent them from helping St Ann’s Hospice once again.

A crowd funding appeal set up by the club after it was forced to cancel its annual  Charity AM AM event due to the pandemic raised £5,377.

Bramall Park Golf Club, which has donated more than £200,000 to St Ann’s in the last 15 years, opened up the course to the public for exercise at the height of lockdown.

The gesture led to the public contributing towards the crowd funding effort and attracted new members once the course reopened.

Organiser Jan Cowan said: “Each year Bramall Park Golf Club is proud to hold our annual golf charity day to help a cause so close to all our hearts, St Ann’s Hospice.

“It would have been our 30th year and the event was already a sell-out with 55 teams. Sadly, due to Covid-19 we were unable to hold the charity day at a time when the hospice needed us the most, dealing with the added strain from coronavirus and the loss of revenue with many fundraising events cancelled.

“We still wanted to do our bit and want to thank everyone who generously donated to our crowd funding page which was set up and fully supported by our professional Craig Daggitt.

“When the course was temporarily closed, the club opened its gates so members, families, friends and local residents could walk the course as part of their daily exercise and enjoy the surroundings and fresh air.

“It’s difficult to put into words the difference St Ann’s Hospice makes in our community with a vast array of much-needed services, including community nurses caring for people in their own homes at end-of-life.”
