Portugal today registered 14 more deaths related to Covid-19 and 1,249 new cases of infection with the new coronavirus, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Portugal has recorded a total of 2,094 deaths and 87,913 cases of infection, with 32,321 cases being active, 924 more than on Sunday.
DGS indicates that of the 14 deaths recorded, eight occurred in the North and six in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley.
Regarding hospital admissions, the bulletin reveals that in the last 24 hours there are 34 more people hospitalised, totalling 877, of which 128 are in intensive care (four more compared to Sunday).
Health authorities have 48,844 contacts under surveillance, 431 more than on Sunday.
In the last 24 hours, 311 patients have recovered, totaling 53,498 since the start of the pandemic.
In the region of Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, another 505 new cases of infection were reported, accounting for 43,646 cases and 836 deaths in the region.
Today, the North region has more than 602 new cases of covid-19, totaling 32,947 cases and 924 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
In the Centre region there were 87 more cases, accounting for 7,082 infections and 272 deaths.
In the Alentejo, 15 new cases of covid-19 were recorded, totalling 1,645, with a total of 26 killed since the beginning of the pandemic.
The Algarve region has today notified 27 more new cases of infection, totalling 2,001 cases and 21 deaths.
In the Autonomous Region of the Azores, three new cases were registered in the last 24 hours, adding up to 298 infections detected and 15 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
Madeira has registered 10 new cases in the last 24 hours, accounting for 294 infections, with no deaths to date.
Confirmed cases are distributed across all age groups, with the highest number of infections between 20 and 59 years of age. The age group 40 and 49 is the one with the highest value.
Today’s bulletin discloses the number of cases per municipality, with Lisbon having the highest number of infections (7,460), followed by Sintra (6,110), Loures (3,594) and Amadora (3,268).
The municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia registers 2,589 infections by SARS-CoV-2, Odivelas 2,486, Cascais 2,380, Porto 2,320, Oeiras 1,941, Vila Franca de Xira 1,836, Matosinhos 1,681, Braga 1,670, Guimarães 1,555, Almada 1,485 and Seixal 1,456 , Gondomar 1.370 and Maia 1,237 specify the report on the epidemiological situation of covid-19 in Portugal.
The remaining counties on the list of the report registered values ??below 1,000 cases.
