Portugal has today recorded an additional six deaths related to covid-19 and 780 new cases of infection with the new coronavirus.
According to DGS, the six deaths were recorded in the region of Lisbon and the Tagus Valley.
Today’s data indicates that Portugal has surpassed the barrier of 20,000 active cases, accounting for 20,229, plus 515 in the last 24 hours.
The data also indicates that 465 people with covid-19 are admitted to hospitals (15 less compared to Thursday), of which 57 (minus two) in intensive care units.
In the region of Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, where the highest number of infections is found in the country, 426 new cases were reported, accounting for 34,386 cases of infection and 717 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
The North region now has 250 more cases, now totalling 24,234, with 864 dead.
In the Centre region there were 46 more cases, with 5,526 infections and 256 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
In Alentejo, 36 more cases of covid-19 were registered, totalling 1,267 cases and 23 deaths so far.
The Algarve region has today reported 20 more cases of infection, adding up to a total of 1,324 cases and 19 deaths by covid-19.
Today in the autonomous region of the Azores, there is no record of cases, totalling 241 infections, 15 dead since the beginning of the pandemic.
Today Madeira records two cases, accounting for 198 infections, with no deaths to date.
In the last 24 hours, 258 patients have recovered, so that 45,053 people have overcome the infection since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal.
Confirmed cases are distributed across all age groups, with the highest number of infections between 20 and 59 years of age.
