Big-hitting Bryson DeChambeau has become the latest player to switch their allegiance from the PGA Tour to the LIV Golf Series after the 28-year-old former US Open champion finally confirmed that he has joined the Saudi-funded tour after several days of speculation.

DeChambeau will join the series starting from the second event, which he being held at Pumpkin Ridge GC in Portland, Oregon, USA from July 1-3.

Speaking about his latest recruit, LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman said: “Bryson DeChambeau is an exciting addition to LIV Golf’s supercharged style of play. He is passionate about the sport, innovative in his approach and committed to pushing the boundaries in pursuit of excellence. He’s not afraid to think outside the box and supports our mission of doing things differently to grow the game. The power and energy he brings to the course will deliver added electricity to our competition in Portland and beyond.”

DeChambeau, who is currently 28th in the world rankings, has won eight times on the PGA Tour since he turned professional in 2016, with his major win coming at the US Open in 2020.

He is the second highest ranked player to join the LIV Series after Dustin Johnson, who is ranked 15th. As things stand, LIV Golf events will not count towards the official golf world ranking, and, like the other PGA Tour players who have been suspended by the PGA Tour, DeChambeau can expect similar punishment to be handed down by PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monaghan.
