June 2020 – Some sort of Normality is returning to the Algarve
After more than 3 months of Lockdown there is some sense of normality returning to the Algarve. Social distancing rules are still in place but many tourist attractions and restaurants are slowly beginning to open up. The golf courses have been open for a number of weeks, but so far have only been able to entertain members and locals. The golf courses which we have visited so far all have the correct safety procedures in place. No rakes in bunkers, one person per buggy, masks to be worn in the clubhouse and hand sanitizers everywhere and so forth.
So, although these measures are to be adhered to, there is a nice feeling that Golf is back and ready to welcome the travelling golfers to the many fantastic golf courses along the Algarve’s coast. In order to attract the tourists and the tourist golfers back to the region, the belief is that the “Air Bridges” are needed. Whilst there is no quarantine required on arrival in Portugal, it’s the 14 days period on return to the UK that’s causing concern for potential visitors. Currently, very few countries have demanded measures such as these for visitors returning from Portugal, so come on Boris! Get it sorted out! The local economy in the Algarve needs you!
We too at Million Dollar Hole in One are preparing to start trading again soon with masks for the tee operators, hand sanitizers and disinfectant spray on the tables at the tees.
We look forward to welcoming you back!
